community fix 1st may 2016

An excellent first “community fix” of the summer – thank you volunteers!

Thanks to a great bunch of volunteers, the first of our monthly “community fix” afternoons was a big success

Under the supervision of our playworker-in-charge, Alex William, a group of energetic volunteers cleared up our site: we now have two organised stores of re-usable wood and a contained pile of wood and other waste for removal. And we also removed a significant amount of litter which had built up recently.

A particular thank you to GoodGym for roping in the majority of the volunteers on the day. What a great organisation! Graham, who won the prize (extra gratitude) for longest session, also wrote a detailed run report for GoodGym.

This is the first in a monthly series, so please sign up to join us on Sunday 5th June if you’d like to help us improve our playground.

Join us at our “community fix” this Sunday noon-5pm!

If you’re in the area and you’re keen to help us clear, fix and improve some of the structures outside, we’ll be very grateful! We’re still working on our plan for the afternoon, but all you need is some energy and you’ll make a big difference. No need to stay for the whole time!

From May, we’ll be organising these “community fix” events on the first Sunday of every month. There’s lots to do!

Please sign up to the event on Facebook, so we know how many people we’re expecting.

HTS are breathing new life into Weavers

We’re delighted that the structural engineers HTS have announced their partnership with Weavers. They are going to help us to improve the outdoor structures and they are providing specialist advice regarding the essential maintenance of our community building.

We are still costing up the whole project, but significant “support in kind” such as this from HTS is a great platform for us to build on and it gives us confidence that we will secure the donations and grants when the time comes.
